Our work

We’ve produced a broad and varied body of work over the years, mostly in the technology, telecoms, finance and hospitality sectors. Here are just a few examples of what we’ve been up to recently.

Technical writing

We write about technology both for the public and for experts.

Unilever

As the senior technical writer on the global Unilever account (more than 400 brands in 190 countries) Dave was responsible for organising, editing and writing technical documentation to explain all aspects of the Adobe Experience Manager (Classic) platform for a range of audiences, from brand managers to content authors and front-end developers.

AXA Digital Commercial Platform

We developed and crafted online and supporting content for a series of new, technology-based online products developed by the international insurance group. The process included liaising with a broad range of stakeholders around the world and developing new systems for content development as well as developing strategy and content for both internal and external comms.

Fornova

We consulted on brand tone of voice, developed corporate messaging and wrote website, customer comms, boilerplates and white papers for this international tech firm which offers specialist software to the hospitality industry.

OpenText

We worked on a revamp of this tech giant’s UK website which involves rewriting content to make it more accessible to non-techies while retaining its authority. Dave was the lead copywriter responsible for tone of voice and researching new content.

UK Government

Working for the UK Government and associated agencies requires a particular set of skills and qualifications – our experience means we can help you there.

Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ)

Dave was comms and content lead responsible for initiating, organising and producing internal comms and content to support the rollout of a major digital transformation programme across the department. Using GDS design and style principles he created a communications strategy and communications plan as well as developing text and video content to promote and explain the rollout.

UK Health Security Agency

As Content Design Lead, Dave was brought in to identify and align content requirements for the service across various workstreams and platforms to deliver the Daily Contact Testing service for the UK’s Covid-19 response. He liaised with stakeholders to establish rapidly changing content requirements, messaging priorities, delivery capabilities and managed a team of content designers and copywriters. He also developed a new system for content generation and approval for the 119 contact centre service.

Public Health England (PHC)

We supplied the senior copywriter responsible for handling staff communications for the technical transition of PHE and Test And Trace to the new UKHSA agency. Working in an extremely agile environment we worked with multiple stakeholders to ascertain correct information, establish the best communication methods (blogs, newsletters, intranet etc including how-to guides and explanatory information, all within GDS and NHS guidelines) and disseminate it across a range of channels at appropriate times.

DWP

Dave was Comms Lead on a high-profile, tight-deadline delivery project for the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP). Working with a design and dev team at Deloitte, we developed a comms strategy for internal comms and external comms, crafted a narrative for the project and produced PowerPoints, web app, emails and other comms detailing the benefits of tech transformation and advanced analytics for the UK benefits system, highlighting Universal Credit.

Department of Health
We provided all the original copy for the Condom Essential Wear sexual health website and collated the quoted material commissioned from healthcare professionals. The tone of voice needed to reflect the language and preoccupations of the target audience, 16-30-year-olds, and aimed to promote safer sex by informing about the dangers of sexually transmitted infections while underlining the importance of using condoms.

Digital UK

We provided much of the original copy for the UK Government’s online guide to the national digital TV switchover from 2008-2012. We consulted on tone of voice and rewriting copy from a disparate range of sources to ensure it could be understood by as broad a range of readers as possible, while conveying technical information about the practicalities of switching from analogue to a digital TV service.

Websites

From initial concept to final approval, we can provide the words that will sell your message to the world.

O2 Business

Dave took over the role of senior copywriter, content manager and tone of voice consultant for O2 Business for three years. He wrote copy for the online shop and website, prepared copy decks for new products, scripted videos, drafted customer comms and edited the O2 Business blog. In that time he helped to increase readership, customer engagement and use of blogs and websites.

Asda

We were responsible for developing and implementing a new content strategy and changes across Asda’s digital estate following its purchase by the Issa brothers’ EG Group from Walmart. This involved identifying and working within the constraints of a new CMS, sourcing and working with stakeholders across the business, service design for new systems and helping to build a new content team.

Sky Business

For the launch of Sky’s B2B offering (then known as Sky Connect) we were responsible for developing style guides, producing web copy, writing marketing copy, integrating SEO and metadata, managing customer comms and updating the new-build website via Contentstack CMS in an agile environment.

Shop Direct Group

We recruited and organised a team of writers to produce ongoing content for the Littlewoods, Isme and Very FMCG shopping websites. Dave edited their work and also wrote many product and brand descriptions himself.

BT Global Services

We took the copywriting lead on a major project to rewrite all of BT Global Services’ technology product descriptions for their website. We also consulted on the design and wrote the copy for a video presentation used by BT staff to help sell the Managed Mobile project, a major telecoms aid for international businesses.

EE

We project managed a major upgrade of EE’s online help section, auditing all pages, rewriting and updating them during the move to a new platform (Adobe Experience Manager) and liaising closely with the Brand and Legal departments as well as the SEO team to develop suitable topics and responses. We also provided UX copy for new sections of the website and several scripts for new innovations to the EE app.

.

Nominet

We wrote all the copy for the revamped customer advice website of the ‘DVLA of .uk domain names’. This included some existing KnowTheNet content for the new tone of voice, as well as creating and researching new sections.

Symantec

CA Technologies

We compiled an extensive white paper for this cloud technology firm based on a survey of Chief Information Officers (the techies) and Chief Executive Officers (the bosses) with the aim of positioning tech-literate CIOs as the CEOs of the future. The paper was used as the basis of features by the Sunday Times and others.

Other media

Videos, brochures, adverts, speeches, pitch documents, brand development, reports, white papers – if they need words, we can help.

Google Now

We worked on early creatives to launch the Google Now technology service. I developed the concept with designers and created scenarios to help illustrate the service though mobile ads.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC)

We wrote the copy for the employee self-learning section of the professional services company’s UK intranet. We conducted interviews with senior staff and compiled pages to help guide employees through a series of career development initiatives. Staff engagement increased as a result.

Health Partners International (HPI) – a DAI Global Health company

We edited and rewrote an extensive range of reports and case studies for this NGO, mostly focused on healthcare in Nigeria. The reports were written by a varied group of academics and needed to be refocused and rewritten in a more approachable style for politicians, journalists and other influencers.

TIA Technology

We edited and rewrote a major pitch proposal from this Danish insurance software firm for their multimillion DKK bid to a leading Norwegian insurance firm.
